I've been to probably 10 different Five Guys and have always left with nothing but good things to say. This location was different. I'll start with the good. We bought 2 bacon cheeseburgers and a regular fry. The burgers and fries were very good. If that was all I was basing the review on it would be 5 stars. The bad. It was just under $20 for these 3 items. This location charges roughly $2.00 more per burger than any other 5 guy's I've been too. Next, every other 5 guys has been known to be very generous with the fries. They would fill the cup and put it in the bag then throw at least another scoop in the bag. This time the 2 burgers and the fry were in the same bag and the small maybe 10 oz cup of fries was less than what McDonalds would normally give you. So, not only does this shop charge more than others it gives you less. I suggest eating at another restaurant or find the next closest Five Guys and give them your business. Don't know if they are franchises or what, but at least they will get the message this one store doesnt meet the standards of all the others.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this update, and not because these burgers are artery cloggers. Simply, my recent experience at Five Guys was just SO bad that it necessitates an update. Since my visits a few months ago, the food has dropped in quality (the fries were in no way fresh, the burgers were put together incorrectle), the staff was ineffective and slow, and the place was crawling with fries. For shame!

Five Guys is amazing! Though most people come here for their burgers and french fries, I actually come here for the grilled cheese. It melts in your mouth. And they wrap it up all nice for you in foil, so it stays warm if you are bringing it to class or grabbing it on the go. I would highly recommend checking this place out. They also are very fairly priced for what you get!

This place is a great value and the food is awesome. I took my daughter here and she does not eat red meat so she ordered just veggies on a bun and loved it. The small order of fries will feed two people. You can watch as they prepare the food. grab your stuff, find a seat, and be prepared to talk to strangers cause they pack this place. Munch on peanuts for free. Great burger, great price.

While I typically refrain from reviewing fast food restaurants and chains, I had to make an exception for Five Guys because I think they have a wonderful thing going for them and produce an outstanding burger. In fact, I think it might be the best burger you can find in Ann Arbor. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable. A double cheeseburger served All the Way style (all the toppings on the menu) costs right around $7.00. I think that this is very fair considering that most places charge you extra for the premium toppings that Five Guys offers for free (e.g. sauteed mushrooms and onions). More importantly though, the burgers are always cooked to a nice medium so that the burger comes out moist but not bloody. I went today with my girlfriend and not only was the food delicious, but the staff were friendly and courteous. I'm not just saying this either. My gf and I were pleasantly surprised when we were given a double order of fries instead of the single order that we purchased, because the staff felt that they had taken slightly too long to send out our food. To be honest, I wasn't even thinking about our wait time when we were rewarded with the free extra order of fries. Still, it was a very nice gesture and added to the experience. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to Five Guys whenever I am craving a great burger at a reasonable price.

Overpriced. And no, the unlimited free peanuts did not make up for the small, overcooked hamburger. It is neat that you get to pick all the toppings you want, though. Staff was polite and helpful (this was the first time I've been to a 5Guys), but I couldn't get over how one of the members decided it would be efficient and sanitary to clean the tables and floor with his bare hands. He kept on picking trash and crumbs up and throwing them into the lobby trash. I didn't get it. Overall the place was pretty filthy (hmm wonder why?). It also didn't help that the atmosphere and decor made me feel like I was stuck in an IRL pop-up ad hell. If you do find yourself coming here, skip the burgers and get the fries! Delicious and cholesterol free!

Had the chance to try Five Guys for the first time at this location. So good!

Dayum, dayum dayum! 5 guys is amazing! I first heard about this place in a youtube video, during which a very large guy (large enough to know a thing or two about bacon cheeseburgers, mind you) serenades both the strength of the burger, and the crunchiness of the fries. He's gone on to host his own show on the Food network, based mostly on the popularity of that original video. His exuberance was not misplaced, as 5 guys does have the best (not to mention one of the cheapest) cheeseburgers around. They have other things on the menu, but the draw really is the burger and fries. Peanuts are also free, and self serve in large boxes all over the eating area. Bummer for those with peanut allergies I suppose, but a good deal for the rest of us. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Tastes good. Cajun fries are great, and they give you a hearty amount. But too expensive overall.

Ugh... I'm not sure if there is a good adjective to describe how I felt after trying a little cheeseburger from Five Guys. Nauseous doesn't seem to encapsulate the heavy, greasy feeling, resembling what I expect an impending heart attack might feel like. How can anyone in their right mind compare this to the fresh deliciousness that is In-N-Out? No soft spongy buns, layers of crispy lettuce, or juicy tomatoes. Instead, eating Five Guys felt like a twenty-pound weight sinking me down. I know, a cheeseburger isn't exactly healthy eating, but I've had plenty of cheeseburgers that didn't make me feel physically ill in the same way that Five Guys' burger did. The two-star rating only comes from the seasoned cajun fries that weren't terrible.

This is my go-to place when I'm craving burgers. Yeah, Five-Guys. It's the closest I can get to my beloved In-N-Out Burger out in the west side of the country. I get the burger all-the-way (which means it has all the condiments, mushrooms, grilled onions, etc.). I also add jalapenos to mine. And top off my meal with cajun fries. Cajun fries are large portions. Get the small, and you can share with another person. Delish. TIP: More seating downstairs.

I had a horrible experience due to the filth of the store. So i just decided not to buy anything, but the other located in Arborland I had a better experience

Ann Arbor is blessed to have many good burger joints, but Five Guys just does not bring much to the party. I think it is overrated. It might pass as excellent in a burger desert, but not in Ann Arbor. The burgers are average. They aren't bad, but they are just another burger, and hard to eat due to buns lacking in structural integrity, collapsing due to the soggy ingredients. Messy does not equal quality, my friends. Then there are the fries. They are basic fries. Made there- on site- with real potatoes. I respect that, really I do. But they are purposely served in such a way to render them soggy. It seems cruel, because they could be *so much better*. So, I find Five Guys Burgers and Fries to be disappointing. It is telling that my favorite thing on their menu- is their hot dogs- which are really quite good.

Get yourself a double cheeseburger. (Dayum dayum daaaayyummm!) But seriously, $9.30 for a little hamburger, regular fries, and a drink... For a burger joint, this place is not cheap. Employees are friendly though. Would be better if they occasionally played this song in the background: youtube.com/watch?v=DcJF… [03/14/14:] Soooo slow. :(

The limp fries were salted so much, they were inedible. Tiny burger. The price doesn't match the food. I like the model where you build a burger from the bun up, but the price stacks up too quickly. I'm not one to throw away food but I bagged up 3/4 of the frieds and the last couple bites of my burger and tossed it because I couldn't finish it. Free peanuts (whoohoo?). Bad. Go to Jimmy Johns, or fellow West Coasters can rejoice with me that we have In & Out (there's no contest).

I am just rating this on the food and the burger and fries were pretty good. I don't really understand the hype with Five Guys but I guess you get a restaurant style burger and fries for around $10.... Getting everything on the burger is recommended and their fries portion size is huge. All in all it was an average experience. Coming from CA I would much rather go to In N Out and pay half the price for the same thing.

I've FINALLY gone to a Five Guys now! I think I was most impressed by the prices here. Very cheap compared to what I'm used to, so that's a definite plus! Second, I was impressed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. I tried to act cool, but they could tell I hadn't been there before and gave me a run-down of the menu as well as a few suggestions. I ended up ordering a "Little" Bacon Cheeseburger and "Little" fries and a small drink. All of this was way too much food for me. Although I ate it ALL, I really should have carried some of it back home, because I was waddling down the street with a watermelon-sized belly after this. I like how, while I was eating there, I kind of had the feeling that I might be at some guy's barbecue or something. I mean, you can totally have the burger any way you want it. It's cooked right after you order it and is ready in no time. And then, if you want to add this condiment or that condiment after you've taken a bite, go ahead! Usually a burger joint will only have ketchup on the counter. But FG had all kinds of things out, including salt and pepper. I have a bad habit of adding extra salt and black pepper to my french fries whenever possible. I guess my point is, thank you, Five Guys, for having salt and pepper out. Haha! All in all, the burgers here taste like something I'd make at home. Sometimes, I go out for a burger because I want that cheap, fast-food taste (hey, it reminds me of special treat days as a kid). Other times, I go out for a burger because I want some kind of fancy concoction with onion rings on top of a Kona-coffee rubbed beef patty with spicy BBQ sauce on top. Or whatever. But with Five Guys available, I can now go out for a good, classic burger without having to stand in front of the grill myself. I will definitely be visiting again before my time in Ann Arbor runs out. ALLERGEN NOTE: They have signs everywhere, but if you are allergic to peanuts please be aware than bins of peanuts are available right in the dining area for people to munch on, that there may be peanut shells on the floors, and that french fries (and maybe other things?) are fried in peanut oil! SIDE NOTE: If you have not seen it, look up "Oh My Dayum" on Youtube. You will not regret this. This man actually sold me on Five Guys even before I had eaten here.

I loved Shaman Drum. I loved it so much that it almost made me cry that Five Guys took its place. I was very, very reluctant to go there. I've also never been a huge fan of hamburgers. Finally, I succumbed to Five Guys. I wanted to eat at new places and had all of a sudden desired hamburgers. It kind of confuses me how a normal hamburger has two beef patties, but I've never really needed that. The fries are okay and they definitely have an unorthodox way of serving them: Some fries in a cup the rest are lining a paper bag. The burger was okay. I've consistently felt that the beef patty was a little bland, and tend to want to put salt and pepper on it. The bun weirded me out the first time how doughy it was, but recently it was perfect. They're pretty clean each time I've gone, and the free peanuts is a pretty good gimmick. The bathrooms have always been immaculate, too, which is great. The 'ambiance' is similar to Jimmy John's where they are usually playing loud classic rock, so you can't really carry a conversation. Nor would you really want to stay there longer than necessary.

Like lot of others, I was excited to hear that Five Guys was coming to Ann Arbor... having never tried Five Guys, I was looking forward to my first visit. First Visit - wasn't too hungry, so settled for hotdog with bacon, grilled onion, grilled mushroom, jalapeno pepper with ketchup with a drink... no fries. I got my drink and waited for my hotdog... I waited about 10 minutes to get my order. Sat down and took a bite of the hotdog... to be honest, I wasn't impressed with the hotdog... but man, that jalapeno pepper was HOT... my mouth was burning.... overall, the hotdog wasn't anything special... Second Visit - I went with double with ketchup, mustard, A-1 Sauce... left the vegetables out... took bite out of the burger... minus being messy, I wasn't impressed with the burger as well... not sure if because I didn't get lettuce and tomato with the order, but the meat was blend... I did try the fries this time and I actually liked the fries... I like how they offer peanuts for free and allow you to add any of the toppings from their offering. If there's no table on the main floor, head to the basement for more seating... but be warned, if you are taller then 6ft4in, watch your head... Overall, I'm still In & Out fan... but I like Five Guys fries better. Parking can be challenging... the place can get busy, so give yourself some extra time.

It is a burger joint, Obama or not, that uses fresh and good quality ingredients. Whenever my burger addiction gets the better of me, I will find one of such burger joints. This Five-Guy joint meets my criteria, but not exceeding much. I had a little bacon cheese burger and the regular 5-guy style fries. These are their staple and, should be, best selling menu items. The burger was good. All ingredients are fresh and tasty. The beef was just right, sauces not over-powering, and bun quite reasonable. I prefer a bit more toasty buns. The fries are huge! Clearly fresh potato and well fried. I like the outside a bit more crispy and potato a bit more fluffier. But these are good fries no doubt. Interesting feature is the free peanuts that is open to anyone. Find yourself a container and just scoop them up. In a real western steakhouse, I would expect peanut shells all over the floor. But here, someone sweep them up clean.

Just another five guys. Good place for a good burger. Burgers and fries are pretty fresh and the servers are friendly and funny.

Like all Five guys this is the best burger around! Free peanuts, great food, great service, Five Burgers is THE BEST!

I truly believe people say 5 Guys is awesome just because they heard other people say it. Its like the people that say Porsche or Mercedes or BMW are the best car, even though they have never driven one. This place is average...at best. The burgers are greasy and the fries are soggy. If people think this is the best a burger can be, then their burger experiences must come solely from fast food. If I was really trying to impress somebody with a burger that would knock their socks off, this is not the place I would be bringing them to.

I've been to Five Guys twice - once when it was insanely busy and once when there was no line and plenty of available tables - and both times the food was just OK. First, the 'ambiance' of Five Guys is loud, both visually and aurally. Lots of bright white tile, bright red paint, and bright bright lights. Speakers are blaring and the works shout loudly to one another - right after you order, the number of patties in your burger will be shouted back "Two patties!". The orders are taken quickly, but it takes longer than expected to get the food. Both times, I've had a cheeseburger (automatically comes with two patties - I think you have to say explicitly if you want a one-patty burger?) fries and pop. The first time I went, the cheese wasn't even melted on my husband's burger. My burger was Ok, but the toppings were a little overwhelming. The second time the toppings were so sloppily put on, it was impossible to actually bite all the way through the thing. The buns are super flimsy and do not hold up at all to the burger and whatever else you put on there. Speaking of toppings - there are tons of choices, and grilled onions and mushrooms are free of charge. I will say that the fries are pretty awesome and the portions are huge - a 'small' will feed 2-3 people easily. The potatoes are freshly-cut there, and the fries are not greasy and well-seasoned. Order them 'cajun-style' for a nice seasoning salt blend on them. All things considered, Five Guys in Ann Arbor does not live up to their reputation. I've found much better burgers at Great Plains on Plymouth (though the fries there are sub-par), and you can actually eat them without making a complete mess of yourself.

When you plaster boasts that you have the "best burger ever", etc. all over your walls, it had better be the best f$%&ing burger of my life. Instead it was merely mediocre. Not bad, but nothing amazing. Perceptibly superior to say McDonald's or Burger King, but not *vastly* so. Great Plains a little to the north for example is at least a little better, if about $2 pricier. The cheapest thing you can buy is the hamburger, which is what I (being a cheapo) bought. It costs $5.72 (after tax), so I don't know what they mean when they claim (on some sticker near the cashier) that they have the best burger that $5 can buy. O yea, and they took a long ass time with the order, despite it being 3:30pm on a weekday when I was there. And it wasn't like the burger/patties were piping hot---they were merely warm; must've been sitting around one of their counters for some time for no good reason.

I love Five Guys, I really do. I'm from the DC area (where Five Guys started), and I've been going to them for years. But this location just isn't worth it. When it had just opened, it wasn't bad. Odd that they measure out the extra fries, but I assume they all either measure it, or are trained on how to do that. I went to this Five Guys location for dinner tonight, and had a pretty bad experience. All the employees seemed to be moving very slowly. At one point an employee changed the ice under the lemon tray, dropped the tongs used to pick up the lemons, and just left them sitting in the water tray under the soda-fountain. It was something beyond laziness. It took longer than it should have for someone to come to the register and take out order. Then it took twice as long as it should have to make our order (by the time they started making it, we were the only ones waiting). They gave far fewer fries than they should have, and they messed up the order. I don't mean by forgetting one topping, or adding one extra, I mean I got a completely different burger. It this time it took much longer than it should have to make me what I had ordered. By the time I got the burger, my fries were cold. Tasting them I could tell that they weren't cold only because of my waiting, but because they had been sitting for a while after being made. Oh, and I forgot the mention the flies. They're all over the place. I'm not entirely convinced this Five Guys location would pass an inspection by the health department with all those flies around. Like I said, I'm a huge fan of Five Guys, but this location sucks. You're better off getting a burger somewhere else, and waiting until you're near a different Five Guys location to have a proper Five Guys experience.

My boyfriend and I were searching for a tasty (and inexpensive) place to grab some dinner on New Year's Eve. Being that it was nearly 10pm, most other restaurants in the area were closed and we didn't have many options. It was the Pink Floyd playing over their outdoor loud speaker that drew us in, but ultimately the food that won us over. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly cashier who could tell we were new to Five Guys. He briefly explained the menu to us (it's very simple) and we ordered our custom burgers (all toppings at no additional charge!) and side of fries. The food was great. We both loved our burgers, and the fries were fresh and delicious (a regular order was more than enough for the two of us). We also enjoyed the classic rock playing overhead and the diner-like atmosphere inside. We'll be repeat customers, for sure.

The burger I had was really great! The ambiance of the place is loud and kind of what you'd expect at a Steak and Shake joint. They also have free peanuts lying around, which is a nice touch. I also thought the employees were pretty nice too.

Five Guys is a burger joint and a very good one, at that. When I'm in the mood for a burger, I head there without hesitation. The food is prepared for you, so it's always fresh. I love that I can specify what's on the burger with full nutrition information online on a per-ingredient basis, so that I can control just what I'm eating. Your fries are even cooked just for you, so you can order them without salt, if you want! The only downside is the if you want fries. The portion sizes are nuts! If I get fries with my burger, I'm stuffed to the gills and not hungry until sometime around dinner the NEXT DAY. So, order fries if you like them (these are good - all about the potato, not over greasy), but prepare to share them with a friend or two. Cool extra: you can even order ahead online so that your food is being finished up as you walk through the door - fresh and no waiting!

No, my flesh didn't melt off my skull in thin rivulets of goo that formed the words 'How could you do this to me? Love, Shaman Drum" on the sidewalk...french fries mollified my guilt pretty easily. However, this place has TAKEOUT written all over it. Unless of course, you enjoy eating inside a very small garishly lit white box with classic rock of the velveety variety blaring through speakers that perplexingly lack discernable methods of volume control. Eating in or out, doesn't matter, they still bag it for you. Not sure this is the wisest course of action, but hey, whatever it takes to make your own mark in the ever-overpopulated burger scene. The burgers themselves are good, but nothing special, aside from having several toppings and only costing around $4 (for a single patty). What DOES separate this place from the rest are the fries: long, thick, double-fried, creamy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, so much bite and flavor they don't need ketchup. They're cut on the premises, as evidenced by the stacked sacks of spuds on display in the windows. Get a small, share with a friend and you STILL won't be able to finish 'em. SO good! Three stars is about right, all things being average (5=fries, 3.5=burger, 1= 'ambience').

My heart felt like it was exploding. That was a good thing. You can get better burgers, but you can also get better coffee or beer in town - but if you want ridiculous fast food, than yes, eat Five Guys.

Meh. SoCal guy + In-n-Out fan here. My experience at 5G was just not good. At all. Bland (I even got it "all the way", all the toppings), way too filling (um, can I have a "small fries" option? Only medium and large exist and it's just way too much food), and wayyy too pricey ($6 burgers, $3 fries). Just thinking about getting 2 superior double-doubles for the price of 1 subpar 5G cheeseburger makes me really sad inside. Oh well, was worth a shot. I miss home. :( edit: after several more trips, I really like this place now! Make sure to get A1 sauce on your burger :D

Right now, all I hear is Flavor Flav hollering, "Don't believe the hype!" I was completely underwhelmed by Five Guys' burgers. I had heard the ballyhoo and was expecting so much more. Blah. A boat load of mediocre fries will not compensate for a disappointing burger. There are so many places to grab a great burger in both Ann Arbor and Ypsi (with much better atmosphere). Nuff said.

  • Jenny K.

This place is a diabetic nightmare. That said, it's pretty dang wonderful. Ordered the "small" bacon cheeseburger, which is a regular sized single-patty burger with all the fixings you want and some at no extra charge (unlike at Blimpy, bless them--they're great too). Also got to try the bacon cheese hot dog, which was delicious. They give a lot of fries, so I recommend sharing. But like the person before me stated, this place is pretty drafty and bustling, so there can be a long wait.

I rarely head to State St. for lunch during work, but I had an excuse and so I stopped by for my first Five Guys experience. Atmosphere: Walked in and decided immediately that I'd be getting my order to go. To loud, too bright, and felt more like a popup restaurant you'd see in the grandstand of a fair or amusement park. Ordered regular size fry and a mini bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles, and ketchup and mustard. The semi-good: the portions on the fries are easily enough for two people, great taste to the fries, but they were mostly limp and a bit soggy. The bad: I didn't get the burger that I'd specified in my order. Instead, I was given a mini cheeseburger (which wasn't so mini) with lettuce, mayo, and jalapenos. The burger wasn't bad, but it' wasn't at all noteworthy and much blander than I'd hoped for. If I had a craving for a burger in the State street area, I could better satisfy the craving at Ashley's, Red Hawk, Seva's, or even the not very good @Burger. I don't think I'll be returning.

Very disappointing. I got home with my take-out order only to discover no burger on my bun -- just a sopping mess of syrupy condiments between a forgettable white bun. It also took at least 15 minutes to get my order, was super loud, there was not enough seating for me to stay and eat, and I just felt dirty standing there waiting for my number to be shouted out while I watched the corn fed beef sizzle on the grill. Not to mention, I didn't actually get a burger on my "cheeseburger" :( Lastly, for a place like this to now occupy what was one of the finest bookstores in the country, is just sad beyond words.

I was pretty excited about Five Guys opening because of the recent Zagat survey rating their burgers better than In-N-Out as the best fast food chain ones to get. I have to say it was a 'meh' experience I went on Weds of their opening week. It was super packed, but the people were friendly and everything was efficient. Atmosphere: Hopefully the place will quiet down after the first few weeks but it definitely wasn't very comfortable to eat in. It was hard to get a table (people were camping out and waiting for their friends to come? unclear as they waited like 20 min??). It was also drafty with people coming in all the time. There is a downstairs section which is kind of neat b/c they have a TV upstairs to tell you if there's room. The color is nice and bright in the place. They have free peanuts for a snack if you didnt want to get fries Food: The burger is kinda unimpressive to be honest. The menu is relatively straightforward. You can choose from either hamburger/cheeseburger or hot dog (either little or big with big being 2 patties) then you can get regular or cajun fries. The part where they really get you is that you can choose as many toppings as you want without any extra charges. I didn't find this as appealing as you think it would be. My burger was clearly fresher than a McDonald's/Wendy's burger, but it still wasn't overly impressive. The fries were better than the burger. They are kinda fat (not as thin as the fries you get at In-N-Out or McDonald's. Overall, maybe i'll give it another try but I'm not in a particular rush to go back

I really wanted to like the place. I list hamburgers and sushi as my two favorite foods, so I mean it when I say I really wanted to like this place. For full disclosure, I love, love, love in-n-out. If you do too, it's best to try Five Guys not expecting the two to be comparable. It will minimize the disappointment. I've been here 3x now, and I've finally figured out the trick, order the small burger (single patty). You won't leave feeling sick and overstuffed. The fries are good, but take a look at the calorie count if you want some help with portion control. Terrible ambiance, eating there leaves me unsettled after eating under the obscenely bright white lights, but it is oh-so convenient. tip: don't lose your receipt right after you order like I normally do. They call by numbers (not necessarily in the order they were placed) so hang on to your receipt and listen for your number or you'll be like me, just hanging around wondering where my order went.

I ate at Five Guys for the first time today. Why did I wait so long?! This place is great! Friendly staff, fast service and fresh ingredients make this place a win. I had a bacon cheese burger (the smaller portion) and added BBQ sauce and jalapeño slices to it. I split a large order of original fries with my husband. My burger was cooked well-done, which is standard. I usually like my burgers cooked medium, but this was just fine. The meat isn't frozen and is prepared daily, which really shows in the quality of taste. The fact that it was well-done was no problem. The bacon was crispy and didn't have any chewy, inedible pieces. The BBQ sauce was delicious and the jalapeños were fresh, with the seeds and ribs left intact. The only cheese they have (that I could tell) was American. Normally I'd prefer cheddar or Swiss, but the American seemed to work very well with the rest of the ingredients. The buns were soft, easy to bite into, making for a whole lot of deliciousness packed between them. The burger was also the perfect size. The large order of fries was huge! My husband and I couldn't eat more than half. There were also a ton of fries in the bottom of our bag that we couldn't finish. We gave those to a homeless man downtown. :) All in all, a great place for a good burger and thick cut, salted fries. Very pleased!

I don't understand why people like this place. Greasy burgers and limp fries. Save your money

Outside looks nice enough...but yikes when you go inside! It reminds me of bathroom or an old hospital, with that white tile everywhere! And white is just not a great color for an eating area at all...so, I'm not impressed, but then...redemption: The burgers are very tasty. They make it to your specifications with a smile and relatively quickly. The fries are pretty good, too. And judging by the potato sacks all over the store as decor (I'm not kidding, peanuts, too!)...I gather that they are made fresh in house. This is really a non-frill joint, but the food hits the spot and the employees are pleasant and even have a little fun back there in the kitchen yelling out the orders. My son also noted that the beef is 100% natural, I guess he read that somewhere there. I would never find it though, I was blinded by the white! ;)

Ok, so I'm a vegetarian and I should've known better, but I liked their fries when a friend gave me a couple recently. Thinking fries might not be enough for lunch, I also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and this is where I went wrong. The bread was a burger bun cooked inside out- the top and bottom of the bun were on the inside. The cheese was grody processed stuff. The tomato and grilled onion I requested didn't make it onto the sandwich. ...the fries were good though! But I don't think this is a place I can get a "meal."

Burgers lived up to the hype. Love the shelled peanuts while we waited for food.

Nice solid take out burger place, do not get me wrong this place has nothing on side trac but for something close and little less expensive its pretty good. If you are in a hurry may want to call in your order as everything is cooked to order. The regular burger options come in double patties, and you can have regular, bacon, and cheese. Regular burger is $5.99 and bacon cheeseburger is $6.99. In addition they offer various toppings for free, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo, mustard and for a fee jalapenos, grilled onions, mushrooms. They offer two sets of fries, regular and cajun. I must say even though the cajun fries are great they are really not cajun, the seasoning taste like old bay season found on Maryland Crabs. They offer two sizes regular and large, quite frankly the regular was more than enough for two people, we had two bacon cheeseburgers, two regular fries and shared a large drink and ended up spending 21 bucks, so yes pricey but the burger is certainly better than any fast food burger and red robin, but does not quite approach Side Trac!!

I heard a lot of hype about them so I figured I'd try them out. The burgers aren't worth the price in my opinion. Definitely not the best or juiciest I've tasted (I don't know what the big deal was with the hype...?!). It was nice you could have whatever toppings you wanted, but I asked for grilled onions and got maybe 2 small pieces. The workers were VERY nice and polite. The fries I thought were the highlight if anything. If you like the American or homemade fries where they just chop up the potato and deep fry it then this is the place for you! I enjoy and support their idea of fresh, local food. I'd eat here again, but I wouldn't quite say it would be my first choice...

Really quite mediocre burger joint. I went in when they opened having heard all the accolades. They do two things, burgers and fries, so I was expecting that they would have done one of those quite well. They did not. The burger was OK. I would put it on par with Quickee Burger, well behind Zingerman's Roadhouse, Blimpie's, or even @Burger. Well if the burger wasn't great the fries surely would be, after all their walls are plastered with raves about the fries. I could not disagree with the walls more. My first visit I got the regular fries and found them to be not just below average, but downright lousy. Of all the places to get a burger in this town, from the aforementioned to bowling alleys and everything in between I would rate 5 Guys fries ahead of Burger King. and that is it. The next time I tried to Cajun fries and found they were just as lousy, but with a cajun hint. Overall all I can say is that I tried it and found it to be overpriced for what they offer. Their prices are comparable to Blimpie's, ten bucks for a burger fries and soda, but the taste is miles apart. If you are looking for a burger in downtown A2 feel free to pass on 5 Guys, they just ain't near as good as advertised.
